HOW TO SCORE GOOD IN USMLE STEP 1



Getting high score in USMLE step 1 exam is major concern for every medical student who wishes to achieve goal of getting into desired specialty. Therefore just passing the exam with marginal grades is not good enough rather not acceptable at all because there is no option of improving grads in USMLE Step 1, these are once for life time.

 


The purpose of this exam is to assess the students that how well they can apply their med knowledge and concepts. Although they students learn every single concept in detail their course work yet most of the students fail to get high scores. One major reason is the short time and a lot of study material to be reviewed. Time needs to be considered as the most crucial factor in preparation of USMLE exam. Use time wisely by adopting proper study techniques and making best use of every single available moment.


Try to avoid passive studying like coping notes, sticking to a single studying technique don’t work in true sense. Apply highly focused active studying methods like rewriting the topics in your own words, using help of flowcharts, continuous self assessments, associating concepts with practical issues and multimedia can enhance learning ability that can ultimately drive you towards your target score.  



A well known saying is Practice makes a man perfect and it applies to every field of life. Deliberate Practice is preferred for such kind of focused learning. Try to emphasize more on the topics you are weak at. Take an overview of all topics, mark boundaries of all topics, get into depth of each topic, repeat each topic with a key focus to memorize important things and finally combine all topics and find their relation with each other. 

A timely started preparation according to the said structured approach can bring you the desired results of getting high scores in USMLE STEP 1.
